Let kids be kids, and give them a break from the grammar books

As a children’s book author, it pains me to hear that some of the most popular books at this year’s Hong Kong Book Fair were exercise books for kids who aren’t even old enough to hold chopsticks! That, to me, speaks volumes about the kind of education system we have and the kind of future we’re headed towards – one as mundane and unimaginative as a grammar book. Rwanda commemorates 30 years since genocide

In keeping with tradition, the ceremonies on April 7 – the day Hutu militias unleashed the carnage in 1994 – began with Kagame lighting a remembrance flame at the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where more than 250,000 victims are believed to be buried. As an army band played mournful melodies, Kagame placed wreaths on the mass graves, flanked by foreign dignitaries including several African heads of state and former US president Bill Clinton, who had called the genocide the biggest failure of his administration. Believe it or not, Greta Gerwig's Barbie movie is drumming up even more attention with its new international posters that just went viral for a very unexpected reason. Last week, Warner Bros. dropped the new marketing material, and the French version had a hilarious faux pas.
